Meet Angela
Following life-altering medical events, I faced much difficulty accepting my new reality. My ‘old self’ had been a very independent personality – how would I adapt? I felt damaged, broken; I was grieving who I had been. There was so much anger around the circumstance in which I found myself. The worry that I may never feel whole (mentally, physically, spiritually) was overwhelming; would I ever find happiness and joy in this life? Was that non-broken, independent woman still in there?
Fortunately, two incredible women have been on this healing journey alongside me—Tricia (PCP) and Karen (Therapist). Each recognized the incredible pain I was experiencing and suggested I might try a non-traditional option to compliment the care my medical team was providing. As a Type-A, left brain thinker I did not quickly embrace that advice. After several months and some additional nudging, however, I acquiesced. What did I have to lose?
Because of their guidance I found Reiki, and Reiki changed my life.
Do I continue to experience challenges from those medical events? I do, but... I found an inner peace that allows me to process and accept what is, and those challenges no longer overwhelm my daily life.

Reiki is translated to mean “Universal Live Energy.” Rei (Universal) Ki (Energy) is the energy within all things in the universe; it is the energy that flows through each of us. The practice of “Reiki Healing” first began in Japan as a means for the client (or self) to calm their mind, body, soul/spirit. Once that calmness & stillness is achieved, healing can occur.

Reiki is not based upon a religion and it does not impede with one’s ability to practice their belief system. It may, however, improve an individual’s personal journey if they follow a religion.
